Maryland’s wrestling team has entered the NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll for the first time this season after a successful start with a 4-0 record. Meanwhile, Penn State remains at the top spot after a dominant win over Lehigh. Iowa and Oklahoma State also secured victories in dual meets.
Illinois moved up in the rankings after defeating Indiana, while Rutgers picked up wins against Lock Haven and Princeton. Little Rock and Oklahoma also emerged victorious against Central Michigan.
The NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll is determined by votes from two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference, with points awarded based on ranking in dual meet results. The next publication dates for the poll are listed for various time frames throughout the season.
In Las Vegas, third-ranked Oklahoma State claimed the team title at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. With Maryland making its mark in the polls, the competition in Division I wrestling continues to heat up as teams aim for success on the mats.
