Maryland Made and One Maryland Collective teamed up to host the “Secure the Bag” event at Gossett Hall on Oct. 28, bringing together over 120 student-athletes with industry experts for networking opportunities. Led by Sydney Anderson, Maryland’s Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development, the event aimed to provide student-athletes with information about career opportunities and Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals that they can benefit from while at the University of Maryland. More than 30 organizations participated in the event, showing their support for the holistic development of student-athletes. Anderson emphasized the importance of these partnerships, stating that many organizations are willing to help student-athletes on both a local and global scale. The relationships built at the event are seen as mutually beneficial, with both parties eager to continue evolving together. As student-athletes navigate their academic and athletic careers, events like “Secure the Bag” play a crucial role in preparing them for future success both on and off the field. The event not only provided valuable networking opportunities but also highlighted the support and resources available to student-athletes at the University of Maryland. Overall, “Secure the Bag” was a successful event that reinforced the importance of collaboration between student-athletes and industry professionals in fostering their development and future opportunities.
