Climeworks Secures $162 Million in Landmark Carbon Removal Investment
Zurich, Switzerland – Climeworks, a global leader in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, has reached a pivotal milestone by securing $162 million in additional equity funding, marking the largest carbon removal investment recorded worldwide in 2025. The latest investment round saw substantial participation from BigPoint Holding and Partners Group, along with significant support from existing investors. The new capital will accelerate the ongoing development of Climeworks’ cutting-edge DAC technology, aimed at reducing the cost of carbon removal efforts. Key facilities like the Orca plant have already validated Climeworks’ innovative approach, while the Mammoth plant is set to enhance scalability and facilitate large-scale testing of new technologies. Noteworthy advancements include doubled energy efficiency and extended lifespan of filter materials, essential for making DAC financially viable.

Analysts forecast significant expansion in the sector, potentially reaching $80 billion by 2030 and $1 trillion by 2050.
