Maryland Track and Field Shines at Kehoe Twilight Meet

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland track and field team celebrated a spectacular conclusion to the regular season during the annual Kehoe Twilight Meet held at the Kehoe Track and Field Complex on Friday. With 14 event victories and two new program records, the Terps showcased their strength ahead of the upcoming championship season.

The event kicked off with field events beginning at 1 PM, and track competitions starting at 5:30 PM, culminating in a Senior Day Ceremony at 7 PM. The festivities included a pre-meet Alumni Reception and the Charles Torpey Alumni Mile to honor past athletes and former head coach Frank Costello, a 1965 high jump national champion.

Highlighting the meet, Chioma Njoku set a new school record in the women’s hammer throw with a throw of 65.37 meters. The women’s 4×100 relay team, featuring Bryce Hatcher, Victoria Teasley, Jewel Ofotan, and Armanie Coleman, also broke a longstanding record, finishing in 45.02 seconds.

Other standout performances included Morgan Graham, who excelled in both the women’s hammer throw and discus, and Jack Barchet, who clocked 1:48.32 in the men’s 800m, now standing second all-time for Maryland. Notably, Maya Valmon marked her name in the all-time rankings with impressive times in the women’s 400m and 200m events.

As the Terps gear up for the Big Ten Championships in Eugene, OR, from May 16-18, they aim to maintain this momentum as they prepare for the NCAA East Prelims and Championships. With a total of eight meets this season, the Maryland track and field team is set to continue its tradition of excellence and competitive spirit.

Stay tuned as the Terps look to make waves at the championships this season.
