Truck Driver Arrested After Highway Shooting in Maryland

ELKTON, Md. – A 28-year-old truck driver from Aurora, Illinois, identified as Christian Ramos, has been arrested following a highway shooting incident late Wednesday night on Interstate 83. The shooting involved a Toyota Prius carrying three individuals, including a toddler, which was struck while traveling near the Shawan Road exit. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Maryland State Police charged Ramos with three counts of attempted first-degree murder alongside related offenses and a firearm charge in Cecil County, where he is awaiting a court appearance. Police identified Ramos after reviewing dashcam footage and interviewing witnesses. He was apprehended without incident at a truck stop in Elkton, where officers discovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun, numerous rounds of ammunition, and spent shell casings in his tractor-trailer.

Additionally, Pennsylvania State Police are investigating three other shootings that occurred the same night on I-83, suggesting a possible link to Ramos. Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam footage or relevant information to contact the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative at 410-538-1887 as the investigation continues.
