Maryland Football in the Mix for Top OT Thomas Wilder
The Maryland Terrapins football program is making waves in the recruiting arena as they have made the top four for coveted offensive tackle Thomas Wilder. This 6-foot-6, 285-pound lineman ranks as the No. 318 overall prospect, No. 30 offensive tackle, and No. 9 player from Virginia in the 2026 class, according to the Composite rankings.
Wilder is evaluating offers from Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, and Virginia Tech. After visiting North Carolina in late May and Penn State this past weekend, Wilder is scheduled to visit Maryland on June 12 before heading to Virginia Tech on June 20. His decision is anticipated to follow these visits.
As the recruitment heats up, North Carolina currently holds a 32% chance of securing Wilder, as indicated by On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Maryland trails both North Carolina and Virginia Tech with an 18.1% probability of landing the highly sought-after offensive lineman.
Described as a "big, nimble" athlete with a natural talent for the game, Wilder possesses a "bully" mentality on the field. He is noted for his powerful run-blocking ability and advanced hand techniques, though he will need to further refine and develop his skills physically to maximize his potential as a top offensive lineman in the 2026 cycle.
With six commitments already in the 2026 recruiting class, Maryland has yet to secure an offensive lineman, making Wilder’s commitment especially critical for bolstering their roster.
