Brayden Marko Commits to Maryland Football: A Homegrown Talent

Maryland football has secured a promising addition to its roster with the commitment of Brayden Marko, a standout tight end from Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C. The 6-foot-6, 240-pound rising senior made the announcement Saturday via X, expressing his excitement to join the Terps.
Marko, who earned a spot on the All-WCAC first team last season, has been labeled an unrated recruit by 247Sports Composite. However, his passion for the University of Maryland is undeniable. Growing up a Maryland native, Marko stated that his commitment was influenced by multiple visits to the campus, where he found an unmatched connection to the program. “Nothing could really compare” to their offer, he remarked, adding that receiving the scholarship was a dream come true, especially having watched the Terps play on TV throughout his life.
In other sports news, shortstop Chris Hacopian announced plans to enter the transfer portal, a move covered by Christian Andriolas. Meanwhile, Maryland men’s basketball icon Juan Dixon has been appointed the head coach of the Shell Shock TBT Team as they prepare for their 2025 season. Dixon expressed enthusiasm about leading the revamped organization.
Maryland wrestling also celebrated success as Jaxon Smith achieved second place among 86kg competitors at the U23 Nationals, showcasing the university’s strength in diverse athletic domains. Additionally, ten Terps were awarded the prestigious M Club Rodman Postgraduate Scholarships, collectively earning $50,000 to further their educational pursuits.
As Brayden Marko adds to a growing legacy of local talent at Maryland, the future looks bright for Terps athletics across the board.
