Detroit, Michigan—NoMad Hotels, a leading brand under Hilton, is poised to unveil its latest property in Detroit, enhancing the city’s revitalization efforts. The new hotel, slated to open in 2027, will be located within The Station at Michigan Central, a sprawling 30-acre technology and cultural hub.
This project aims to rejuvenate the historic Michigan Central Station, which has remained dormant for years. CEO Josh Sirefman states, “NoMad’s reputation for integrating into culturally significant environments and celebrating local character makes them a natural fit for this project.” The collaboration with Ford Motor Company marks a significant step toward making The Station a global destination, appealing to residents, visitors, and local entrepreneurs alike.
The NoMad hotel will boast approximately 180 guest rooms, including 30 luxurious suites, and will occupy the top five floors of The Station’s tower—historically the first time floors 14 to 18 will be operational. Guests can expect wellness facilities and innovative accommodations, with a hotel design influenced heavily by local artists and makers.
NoMad aims to honor the building’s heritage, originally constructed in 1913 by the same architects who designed New York’s Grand Central, while reimagining its restaurant and bar concepts to resonate with the site’s storied past.
Kara Randall, Hilton’s VP of Luxury and Mixed-Use Development, noted that this announcement reflects Hilton’s commitment to expanding its luxury offerings in diverse global markets. With over 500 luxury properties worldwide, Hilton is on track to open around 100 additional luxury hotels, solidifying its leadership in the hospitality industry.
The opening of NoMad Detroit follows the recent launch of The Station, marking a new chapter in the resurgence of the Detroit area. The project continues to attract corporate and small business investments, reinforcing the area’s growth potential.
