Trump promotes baseless conspiracy theory alleging Biden was ‘executed’ in 2020.

On Saturday night, former President Donald Trump shared a baseless claim on Truth Social suggesting that President Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced with clones or robots. The post, originally made by an anonymous user known for spreading outlandish theories, claimed Biden had been replaced by “clones, doubles” and “robotic engineered soulless mindless entities.” Trump did not provide any additional context when sharing the post with his nearly 10 million followers.

Historically, Trump has utilized misinformation and conspiracy theories, such as his repeated false claims about winning the 2020 presidential election. These assertions incited the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack by his supporters. Additionally, he has previously claimed that former President Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. and made dubious statements about Haitian immigrants. Many of these claims have been debunked.

Trump’s administration has also been linked to the dissemination of conspiracy theories, particularly regarding vaccines and the so-called “deep state.” Notably, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. perpetuated a false narrative about vaccines causing autism.

Amid this context, Biden recently revealed his diagnosis with a metastatic form of aggressive prostate cancer, which drew a mix of well-wishes and skepticism from Trump allies, who accused Biden of concealing his health issues. In response, Biden has publicly stated he feels healthy and even jested about perceptions regarding his mental acuity.

Trump’s repost joins a broader campaign of attacks against Biden, including critiquing his use of an autopen for signing legislation, which Trump argues raises questions about Biden’s mental state. White House practices regarding autopens have been in use for decades, countering Trump’s narrative.
