Washington, DC, May 31, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) has announced the winners of its annual Capital Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, recognizing four innovative local student businesses. These young entrepreneurs will showcase their ideas at the national finals in New York on October 8, competing for the National Champion title and cash prizes.
The challenge featured a panel of esteemed judges, including leaders from Ernst & Young, EagleBank, and Opus8, who evaluated original business concepts pitched by students. The winners include:
- 1st Place: Arlo Pangilinan from Oxon Hill High School, presenting ScholarSync, a digital planner aimed at supporting anxious high school students.
- 2nd Place: Elijah Parker and Kymani Otano-Charity from Francis Scott Key Elementary Middle School with Carry Confidence, offering custom bags.
- Runners Up: Mariana Phipps and Paige Dickensheets, also from Francis Scott Key, with Blysse, a natural perfume line, and Jazlyn Ramirez from Falls Church High School with Paws and Claws, a pet grooming and training service.
NFTE Capital Region Executive Director Meg Stewart praised the students for their exceptional creativity and highlighted the organization’s mission to foster entrepreneurial talent. Additionally, the event recognized standout educators and volunteers, further emphasizing the commitment to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs.
