Jonesboro Unlimited Breaks Ground on Industrial Water Services Expansion
JONESBORO, Ark. — Jonesboro Unlimited (JU) has set the stage for industrial growth with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 28, 2025, marking the expansion of industrial water services across 600 acres in Craighead Technology Park South. The event was attended by notable figures including Clint O’Neal, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC); Judge Marvin Day of Craighead County; Mayor Harold Copenhaver of Jonesboro; and Arkansas Representatives Jon Milligan and Jack Ladyman.
Steven Lamm, JU’s Vice President of Economic Development, emphasized the unified effort between the AEDC, Craighead County, and Jonesboro City Water & Light to enhance water services in the area. "We are expanding our industrial park’s infrastructure to support future industrial growth,” said Lamm.
In December 2024, JU secured $2 million from the Arkansas Site Development Program, aimed at improving the site’s readiness for prospective projects. O’Neal highlighted that having well-prepared sites is crucial for attracting new investments to Arkansas, reducing risks for companies during their selection processes.
Construction is set to begin in mid-summer 2025, with expectations to provide industrial-grade water services to the extensive 600-acre site adjacent to I-555. Judge Marvin Day expressed gratitude for the collaborative local and state support, which reinforces Craighead County’s commitment to nurturing industrial development.
This initiative is seen as a vital step in enhancing the area’s industrial capabilities, ensuring that Jonesboro and its surroundings remain competitive in attracting new business opportunities. The expansion is anticipated to foster economic growth and job creation in the region.
