Child Injured in Lawn Mower Incident in Olney, Maryland, Reunites with Rescuers

Young Boy Receives Heartwarming Visit from First Responders After Lawn Mower Accident

OLNEY, Md. — In an uplifting moment this week, a young boy named Gibson Rivera Theimer, who is recovering from a serious lawnmower accident, received a special visit from the first responders who played a crucial role in saving his life. The reunion took place on Thursday at the hospital, nearly two weeks after Gibson was airlifted to a trauma center following the incident on May 10 in Olney.

First responders from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) stations in Laytonsville and Sandy Spring made the trip to see the brave young patient. MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer reported that the teams responded to a traumatic injury at Clover Hill Lane, and swiftly transported Gibson for emergency care.

Photos shared by Piringer on social media show a smiling Gibson enjoying his time with firefighters and paramedics during breaks between surgeries. MCFRS has since noted that Gibson’s recovery is progressing well. The heartwarming visit highlighted the critical bond between first responders and the community they serve, bringing joy to an otherwise challenging recovery journey.
