Ravens Unveil New Mural in Downtown Columbia
COLUMBIA, MD — The Baltimore Ravens unveiled a vibrant mural on Friday as part of their “Paint the State Purple” initiative, designed to celebrate the team’s bond with communities throughout Maryland. The mural, created by acclaimed Baltimore artist Megan Lewis, adorns the side of Toastique in the Merriweather District, near Color Burst Park, a community gathering space that hosts events year-round.
Lewis’s artwork symbolically centers on a young boy amidst a flourishing garden, representing hope and growth. “This mural celebrates the beauty that comes from nurturing our youth,” Lewis remarked, emphasizing the importance of community support. The mural also features contrasting silhouettes that depict the spirit of Baltimore, showcasing both the city’s cultural vibrancy and the excitement of Ravens football.
Community members can admire the mural during the Merriweather District’s upcoming Books in Bloom festival on Saturday, where they can meet authors, enjoy activities for all ages, and take photos with Ravens cheerleaders and mascot Poe from noon to 1 p.m. Lewis expressed her pride in contributing to the city’s beauty and her enduring love for the Ravens. The event is free and welcomes all fans.
