New Cancer Care Center Under Construction in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) – Amidst the bustling sounds of construction at Redwood and Greene Streets, the future Stoler Center for Advanced Medicine is taking shape, promising a significant enhancement to cancer care in Baltimore. Dr. Taofeek Owonikoko, Executive Director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, emphasized the pressing need for this facility, which is slated to open by 2026. The new center will feature five floors dedicated to cancer treatment, expanding clinical space by 40% and offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services.

The importance of clinical trials in advancing cancer treatment is exemplified by Bryan Soronson, a former senior administrator at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, Soronson benefited from cutting-edge therapies and clinical trials, achieving significant remission. He believes the new center will enable more patients to access such innovative treatments.

To support the Greenbaum Cancer Center, the 17th annual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K will take place on June 7, with all proceeds benefiting the center. As Soronson plans to run virtually from Croatia, he emphasizes the community’s vital role in cancer care, urging everyone to contribute.
