Ethan Wilson Signs with Southern Maryland Blue Crabs
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have officially signed left-handed outfielder Ethan Wilson, a promising talent formerly with the Philadelphia Phillies, as they gear up for the 2025 season. Wilson, a second-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, played college baseball at the University of South Alabama before making his professional debut in 2021.
Starting his career in Low-A, Wilson quickly showcased his power, hitting three home runs and driving in 17 runs in his first 30 games. He made his way through the Phillies’ minor leagues, with standout seasons in High-A Jersey Shore, where he amassed 101 hits, 20 doubles, seven home runs, and 45 RBIs in 112 games during 2022. In 2023, as the 14th top prospect, he hit .250 with 17 homers and 61 RBIs, continuing his trend of consistent performance.
Although his 2024 season was interrupted by an appendectomy, Wilson returned to action, making appearances in Triple-A and maintaining strong fielding statistics, boasting a .990 fielding percentage in left field. This marks Wilson’s fifth professional season and his inaugural campaign with the Blue Crabs, where he looks to make a significant impact.
