At least two people dead as storms sweep across the South to the Northeast


A 12-year-old boy and a woman were killed in Oklahoma after their vehicle was swept under a bridge during a severe storm system. The Moore Police Department conducted a water rescue involving two vehicles stranded in floodwaters but were only able to rescue two occupants after one vehicle was swept away. Nearly 30 severe weather reports, including two unconfirmed tornadoes, were reported in Texas. The storm system caused power flashes in Maryland, and on Easter Sunday, the threat of severe weather shifted to 11 million people in Arkansas, St. Louis, and Illinois. The National Weather Service warned of damaging wind gusts, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and a few tornadoes. The greatest risk of tornadoes was in northern Arkansas, including Conway and Batesville. In Missouri, the threat of strong winds, large hail, and tornadoes near St. Louis was highlighted. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued across Arkansas and Missouri, with the threat of flooding still present. Over 100,000 utility customers remained without power in the South and Northeast, with some areas receiving up to 7 inches of rainfall.
