A Maryland man, 23-year-old Damonne Antonio Shayne Martin of Silver Spring, has been arrested and charged after shooting into a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Montgomery County. The incident occurred after Martin was removed from the store earlier in the day for suspected shoplifting. He fired multiple rounds into the storefront windows at 9 p.m. on April 7. Martin was found in possession of a loaded handgun and suspected cocaine at the time of his arrest on April 15. A search warrant at his residence revealed items of high value and suspected cocaine intended for distribution. Martin has been charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple firearm-related charges. He has been transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Information from the Montgomery County Police Department was used to report this incident. The community is shocked by this violent event in a normally peaceful area, and authorities are working to ensure justice is served in this case. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity or behavior to law enforcement to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
