Maryland Governor Wes Moore is providing additional resources to support federal workers impacted by recent efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce. The resources include a one-stop shop and job pages for various positions. The new process will streamline hiring for state government positions that are difficult to fill. Applications on the job pages will be expedited for consideration and potential interviews within weeks. The applications will remain open until May 2, with additional waves of positions opening on a recurring basis.
Moore also announced expanded resources through a partnership with Work for America, including access to the Civic Match talent platform and the Maryland Public Service Resource website. Efforts are being made to identify opportunities for federal workers in teaching to address Maryland’s teaching shortage. Howard County Executive Calvin Ball has also announced resources for impacted federal employees, including job search assistance and expedited applications for county government jobs. The Trump administration’s goal to reduce the federal workforce has led to mass layoffs, with Maryland having approximately 160,000 federal civilian employees. In response, Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown led a coalition of states in filing a federal lawsuit challenging the layoffs.
