Severe weather approaching Maryland this evening

A WJZ First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Monday evening due to the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms. The storms are expected to bring damaging wind gusts, hail, lightning, and heavy downpours. The storms will impact Western Maryland first and move towards the I-95 corridor before finally reaching the Eastern Shore. After the storms pass, cooler temperatures and breezy conditions are expected for Tuesday, with highs near 60 degrees. Wednesday will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies with similar temperatures. Warmer weather will return briefly on Thursday with highs in the upper 70s and a chance for afternoon showers. A stalled front will linger across the region from Friday into the weekend, leading to varying temperatures and scattered showers. The best chance for storms will be on Sunday as the system pushes through the region. Monday into Tuesday will see cooler, drier conditions with highs in the upper 50s. Stay tuned to WJZ | CBS Baltimore for updates on the weather.
