The University of Maryland’s track and field team had a successful first home meet of the season, securing 17 event wins and setting two all-time performances. Nyla Cherry set a new PR in the women’s long jump with a jump of 6.05m, while Katerina Talanova and Max Worley won the women’s and men’s 1500m events, respectively. Armanie Coleman and Roman Spikes both had impressive performances by winning the 100m and 200m events in their respective categories.
Other standout performances included Kanai Bey winning the women’s 400m with a new PR, Katie Turk winning the women’s 800m, and Tolu Akinduro winning the women’s 400mH event. The men’s and women’s 4x100m relays also saw all-time performances.
The Terps will continue their competition next week at the Florida Relays. Overall, the team showcased their talent and determination at the meet, setting the tone for a successful season ahead.
