Rafe Colburn has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Etsy, Inc., effective May 5, 2025. With a background in technology leadership, Colburn brings experience from his role as Chief Technology & Product Officer at Depop, where he successfully scaled the technology team and transformed the customer experience. Prior to Depop, he spent nearly 10 years at Etsy leading engineering teams in various critical areas.
Etsy CEO Josh Silverman expressed excitement for Colburn’s vision for creating differentiated shopping experiences. Colburn himself stated his eagerness to work alongside Etsy’s talented team and leverage technology, particularly AI, to enhance the shopping experience and create economic opportunities for sellers.
Colburn will be based in Brooklyn, NY, and will report to CEO Josh Silverman as part of Etsy’s executive team. Additionally, Peter Semple has been appointed as interim CEO of Depop as Kruti Patel Goyal transitions to a new role at Etsy.
