Maryland Men’s Basketball Team Earns No. 2 Seed in Big Ten Tournament
After a successful regular season with a 24-7 overall record and a 14-6 mark in league play, the Maryland men’s basketball team has secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming TIAA Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament. They will open postseason play on Friday, March 14 in the quarterfinals. The tournament will be hosted by Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Maryland will face the winner of the second-round match-up on Thursday between the No. 7 seed team and the winner of the first-round game against the No. 15 and No. 10 seeds. This marks the second time since joining the Big Ten in 2014-15 that Maryland has earned the No. 2 seed.
The Terps closed out the regular season on a high note, winning seven of their last eight games and 11 of their last 13. They have also been successful on the road, going 5-1 in their last six road games. Maryland’s strong performance throughout the season has earned them a ranking of No. 10 in the NCAA Net, No. 12 in the Kenpom.com ratings, and No. 13 in the Torvik rankings. Their NCAA resume includes seven Quad 1 victories and four wins against AP Top 25 teams.
