NDSU Softball Defeats Maryland Eastern Shore with Wihlm’s One-Hit Performance


North Dakota State softball secured an impressive 8-0 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore at the Golden Eagle Classic. Madison Wihlm pitched her first career shutout, allowing only one hit in the win. The Bison dominated from the start, scoring five runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. Jasmyn Yessian and Savannah Henzler contributed with RBIs, while Chloe Woldruff and Macy Fry also added runs. Lileigh Nieto and Bella Dean extended the lead with RBIs in the third and fourth innings. Star player Star Cortez went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and a stolen base. Yessian and Nieto each had two RBIs in the game. The win was sealed in the sixth inning with a run-rule victory after Yessian’s bunt single. The Bison will finish the Golden Eagle Classic with a match against Maryland-Eastern Shore and Southern Miss.
