Two Maryland women have been arrested in connection to the alleged assault of a child at a daycare in Queen Anne’s County. Wendy Jones, a 57-year-old employee, has been charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and neglect of a minor. Meanwhile, Dana Barnhart, a 53-year-old owner and on-site director of the daycare, has been charged with failure to report child abuse/neglect. Authorities received a report about the incident at the Kiddie Academy of Kent Island in Stevensville and conducted an investigation leading to the arrests.

The details of the alleged mistreatment of the child and when it occurred are still unclear. The Queen Anne’s County Office says the investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office has not provided additional information about the case. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance in childcare facilities and the need for proper reporting and handling of child abuse and neglect cases.
