Western Carolina Baseball Welcomes Big Ten Opponent Maryland for Home Series

Western Carolina baseball is gearing up for its first home weekend series of the 2025 season against Big Ten opponent Maryland, starting Friday afternoon at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. This series marks the return of Power Four conference opponents to Cullowhee, with Maryland being the first Big Ten team to visit since 2015. Tickets for Catamount baseball can be purchased in person, by phone, or online. The series will feature three games, each broadcast on ESPN+ and with live stats available.

Western Carolina enters the series with a 1-3 record, coming off a midweek victory over USC Upstate. Freshman Jaylen Jones and Trey Spees are leading the team on offense, while Mason Holton hit the team’s only home run so far. On the pitching side, the Catamounts have used a deep bullpen strategy to manage the workload.

Maryland, with a 2-1 record, boasts a strong lineup and pitching staff, including transfers and returning players. This series will be the second meeting between Western Carolina and Maryland on the baseball diamond, with the Terps winning the previous encounter in 2012.
