ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 20, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Agriculture is offering cost-share grants to assist farmers in transporting manure to crop fields with acceptable soil phosphorus levels and injecting liquid manure into the soil. These grants help prevent nutrient runoff and reduce odors, with funding available until September 9, 2025. The program covers transporting poultry manure at $28/ton to qualified fields, as well as dairy and livestock manure at 87.5% of eligible costs. FastTrack and standard transport options are available, with FastTrack applications for poultry and dairy/livestock manure downloadable from the website. Farmers who do not qualify for FastTrack should contact their local soil conservation district for standard grants. Claims for payment must be submitted by October 9, 2025, to the Conservation Grants Office. To apply for these grants, farmers must be in good standing with the program and comply with Maryland’s nutrient management regulations. For more information, farmers can visit the Delmarva Chicken Association’s website or contact the Manure Management Program at 410-841-5864.
