Chavira finds peace and focus in the TSTC Automotive Technology lab

Jose Chavira, a first-semester student in the Automotive Technology program at Texas State Technical College, is determined to help the less fortunate own their own vehicles. Growing up in Roby and now residing in Colorado City, Chavira found his passion for fixing cars after being overcharged for a repair on his own vehicle. He is now working towards his associate degree and plans to buy and fix cars for those who cannot afford them.

Chavira’s instructor, Ty Liedtke, commends his hard work and motivation, noting that he sets a great example for younger students in the program. Despite being the oldest student in his class, Chavira appreciates the hands-on approach TSTC provides, emphasizing the importance of practical experience in the automotive industry.

With the demand for qualified automotive technicians expected to increase in Texas, Chavira is on track to enter a field with ample job opportunities. TSTC offers various automotive programs, including an Associate of Applied Science degree and certificates in different specializations, across multiple campuses in the state.

Chavira’s determination to give back to his community by providing affordable transportation solutions showcases the passion and commitment of students in TSTC’s Automotive Technology program. Learn more about TSTC and their offerings by visiting tstc.edu.
