Dylan Behler selected to fill Maryland District 30A delegate seat vacancy

Dylan Behler was chosen to fill the vacant District 30A delegate seat by the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee after Shaneka Henson’s promotion to the Maryland Senate. Behler, a 26-year-old lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, received 10 votes during the selection process. Governor Wes Moore must now approve the committee’s recommendation for Behler to assume the position.

At the hearing, Behler emphasized his experience in political campaigns and as legislative staff, stating that he is well-equipped to protect and advance the district’s values. He highlighted his work on environmental issues, including efforts to restore the Chesapeake Bay and improve community resilience infrastructure.

Behler currently serves as the Director of Legislative and Constituent Services at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, where he focuses on environmental conservation and equitable outdoor access for Maryland residents. Prior to this role, he worked as Chief of Staff for State Senator Sarah Elfreth and as a committee analyst for former Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr.

Henson’s appointment to the Maryland Senate created the vacancy in the District 30A delegate seat, which Behler has now been selected to fill. The district covers parts of Annapolis, including Parole.
