Maryland Oysters & Beer Take Center Stage at Shuck & Stout

Shuck & Stout, a celebration of Maryland oysters and beer, is kicking off in February as part of Maryland Beer Month. Sponsored by the Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Maryland’s Best program, the initiative encourages consumers to visit local restaurants and tasting rooms for oyster and beer pairings. Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Atticks highlights the importance of supporting local jobs and the economy by enjoying these two delicious Maryland products. Oysters are nutritious and important to Maryland’s economy, with a commercial landing value of $31.1 million in 2023, and recycled shells being planted back into the Bay to help grow future oyster populations. Maryland breweries also contribute significantly to the state’s revenue, with over $6.9 million in taxes from beer in 2024. With more than 30 farm breweries and a variety of oysters to choose from, there are numerous delicious pairings to explore throughout the state beginning on February 1.
