In a dominant performance, Maryland’s men’s basketball team defeated Ohio State with a resounding 83-59 victory on Wednesday night. Ja’Kobi Gillespie led the Terrapins with 23 points in his first Big Ten game, while Derik Queen recorded his fourth double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Maryland’s 33-point halftime lead was the largest for any Big Ten team in a regular-season conference game since 1996-97.
The Terrapins took control early in the game, going on an 11-0 run to establish a commanding lead. By halftime, Maryland was up by 50-17 after limiting Ohio State to just nine made field goals in the first half. Meanwhile, Maryland managed to hit seven 3-pointers to further extend their lead in the second half.
Devin Royal led Ohio State with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Maryland’s dominant performance. With this win, Maryland improved to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in Big Ten play. They are set to face No. 8 Purdue next, while Ohio State will take on Rutgers in their next game.
