Maryland University announced today the signing of highly sought-after recruit Jaylen Gilchrist, solidifying their 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4.5, 295-pound interior offensive lineman from Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia is ranked as the No. 90 player overall and No. 6 interior lineman in the 2025 class by 247Sports Composite.
Gilchrist’s commitment to Maryland is a significant boost for the team, as they have faced challenges in developing interior offensive line talent in recent years. The prospect had received offers from top programs such as South Carolina and Georgia, but ultimately chose to join the Terrapins, a decision he made back in August.
Though there were some concerns about a potential last-minute change of heart, Gilchrist finally signed with Maryland on Wednesday. His addition to the team is expected to strengthen their offensive line and provide a solid foundation for their future success.
Head coach Mike Locksley expressed his excitement about Gilchrist joining the program, praising the recruit’s skills and potential impact on the team. With Gilchrist on board, Maryland is looking forward to a promising future and aiming to improve their performance in the upcoming seasons.
