Western Maryland Faces Blizzard Warning with Heavy Snow and Strong Winds Predicted

A Blizzard Warning has been issued for Garrett County, Maryland starting Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon, with forecasted snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and wind gusts up to 55 mph. The warning also includes parts of West Virginia. Wind chills are expected to drop to near or below zero by Thursday evening. This warning follows the region’s first snowflakes of the season, turning to rainfall near Baltimore. Baltimore City has already declared a Code Blue Extreme Cold Season in effect until March 2025. Residents are urged to prepare with food and shelter, and limit travel during winter weather warnings to prevent accidents. Wisp Ski Resort in Western Maryland will open their slopes on Friday, Dec. 6 for winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy. Additionally, the region offers tree lightings and other holiday celebrations to explore during this snowy season. Stay safe and be prepared as winter weather approaches.
