ESPN is now available on Disney+ for those who subscribe to ESPN+. This move is part of ESPN’s efforts to attract more Disney+ users to ESPN. Disney is making about 100 live games available to Disney+ members without a corresponding ESPN subscription, including sports like college football, basketball, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB, tennis, golf, Little League World Series, UFC, and more. ESPN will also include some studio programming, sports-related films, and documentaries on Disney+. ESPN content will be integrated into the Disney+ search function, similar to Hulu’s integration earlier this year.
Additionally, ESPN is creating two new studio shows specifically for Disney+: a daily “SportsCenter” and a women’s sports show. These shows are aimed at attracting more casual sports fans to the platform. ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro hopes that Disney+’s strong female audience will tune into the women’s sports show. The ESPN+ service currently offers about 30,000 live games per year and costs $11.99 per month when purchased separately. A bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ (with ads) is available for $16.99 per month.
ESPN wants to provide sports fans with easy access to their favorite content, and by integrating ESPN into Disney+, they hope to reach a wider audience and create a seamless viewing experience for users.
