WWE has filed a motion in a lawsuit alleging that Linda & Vince McMahon were aware of sexual abuse within the company. The lawsuit claims that Mel Phillips committed multiple sex crimes against young boys who worked as ring boys for WWE. Representatives for WWE and parent company TKO have filed a motion to pause the lawsuit until the Maryland Supreme Court determines the constitutionality of the Maryland Child Victims Act. The defendants are also seeking to have the case moved from state to federal court. WWE and TKO are asking for an extension to respond to the plaintiffs’ claims, which the plaintiffs have denied. The lawsuit against Vince McMahon by former WWE employee Janel Grant contains allegations of grooming, abuse, and sex trafficking. McMahon resigned from all duties with TKO and WWE after this lawsuit was filed, while continuing to deny the allegations. The lawsuit against McMahon is currently on pause at the request of the US Department of Justice amidst allegations of enabling a culture of abuse and trafficking in WWE.
