Prince George’s and Baltimore Counties Featured in Poll on Succession News; Updates on District 30 Developments

A new poll conducted for Blended Public Affairs reveals that voters in Baltimore and Prince George’s counties don’t know much about the likely successors to the departing county executives. With Angela Alsobrooks and Johnny Olszewski Jr. moving to higher offices on January 3, the counties are preparing for succession battles. In Baltimore County, at least three council members are vying for the position, while in Prince George’s, the process for selecting the next county executive will depend on Alsobrooks’ resignation date. The poll shows that the potential successors are relatively unknown to average voters, with State Sen. Katherine Klausmeier and State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy being the most well-known candidates. In Anne Arundel County, Del. Dana Jones announced her intention to apply for the Senate vacancy in the 30th legislative district when incumbent Sen. Sarah K. Elfreth departs for the U.S. House. Jones emphasized the importance of collaborative and trusted leadership in addressing the state’s challenges. The poll also revealed voter opinions on issues such as infrastructure fees and support for a new football stadium. The uncertainty around the succession processes and the lack of public awareness about potential candidates highlight the importance of informed decision-making in these critical elections.
