A Maryland State Police task force, in collaboration with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force (MCRTF), recently made several arrests after cracking down on illegal car rallies across multiple counties in the state. On Nov. 30, the task force shut down 10 large-scale illegal exhibition driving events in Baltimore City, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Prince George’s counties. During one event in Baltimore City, approximately 300 people and vehicles blocked a roadway, resulting in the arrest of four teenagers and one man. The arrests included charges related to traffic violations and the possession of a replica handgun. Additionally, police apprehended four teenagers fleeing from a stolen car, recovering two guns in the process. The stolen car is believed to have been used in other car rallies and potentially a robbery in Washington, D.C. The MCRTF collaborated with various law enforcement agencies in conducting this joint investigation. This crackdown highlights the efforts to maintain public safety and address illegal driving events in Maryland.
