Local historical society unveils new online database for community members searching for information on the past. The South County Historical Society, in partnership with Polkio.com, has launched “Pages of the Past,” a digital archive containing a wealth of historical documents, photographs, and records.
The database, which can be accessed for free on the Polkio.com website, offers a convenient way for residents to explore the history of the area and research their family lineage. Users can search for specific dates, people, or events, making it easier to find the information they are looking for.
“We are excited to provide this valuable resource to our community,” says Jane Smith, president of the South County Historical Society. “Having these records available online makes it more accessible to a wider audience and preserves our history for future generations.”
The database includes a variety of materials, such as old newspapers, yearbooks, and census records, giving users a glimpse into the past of the region. The South County Historical Society has been working diligently to digitize these documents and make them available to the public.
“We have spent countless hours scanning and cataloging these materials to ensure they are easily searchable and user-friendly,” says Sarah Johnson, archivist for the society. “It’s a labor of love for us, and we are thrilled to see it finally come to fruition.”
Community members are encouraged to visit Polkio.com to explore the “Pages of the Past” database and discover the rich history of the area. The South County Historical Society hopes that this new resource will spark an interest in local history and encourage residents to engage with their past in a meaningful way.
