‘Fatal consequences loom for this nation if RFK Jr. carries out his plans’

Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former FDA Commissioner, expressed concerns about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s potential impact as Health Secretary. Gottlieb warned that Kennedy’s vaccine skepticism could lead to reduced vaccination rates and increased measles outbreaks, potentially costing lives. Kennedy’s history of spreading false claims linking vaccines to autism was highlighted, despite extensive evidence to the contrary. Additionally, Kennedy has cast doubt on the efficacy of Covid vaccines, calling them dangerous.

Gottlieb also pointed out worries among Republican senators about Kennedy’s positions on abortion and potential impact on food prices. He emphasized that some senators, including pro-life and public health advocates, have reservations about Kennedy’s stance on vaccines. Gottlieb argued that Kennedy’s intention to influence health policy should not be underestimated, referencing one of his advisers who emphasized Kennedy’s commitment to his beliefs.

Gottlieb expressed confidence that President Trump does not share Kennedy’s views on vaccines and would not support policies that could lead to disease outbreaks. Despite concerns raised by Gottlieb and others, Kennedy’s nomination as Health Secretary could still move forward, subject to Senate confirmation. The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Gottlieb’s statements.
