Gottlieb argued that Kennedy’s intention to influence health policy should not be underestimated, referencing one of his advisers who emphasized Kennedy’s commitment to his beliefs.
Gottlieb expressed confidence that President Trump does not share Kennedy’s views on vaccines and would not support policies that could lead to disease outbreaks. Despite concerns raised by Gottlieb and others, Kennedy’s nomination as Health Secretary could still move forward, subject to Senate confirmation. The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Gottlieb’s statements.
