Watertown native Neicia Smith has signed a letter of intent to play Division 1 Lacrosse at Loyola University in Maryland next fall. Smith, a senior at Phillips Academy in Massachusetts, credits her time at the prep school for preparing her both athletically and academically. She also praises her club team in the North Country for helping her in the recruiting process. Smith will be transitioning from midfield to attack at Loyola, where she looks forward to showcasing her skills.
In other news, the annual pre-season volleyball event at Watertown’s Case Junior High School saw five teams, including Watertown, Carthage, General Brown, Beaver River, and Lowville, compete in a round-robin format. The event provided a great opportunity for the teams to prepare for the upcoming season.
