Record $532 million in sports betting reported in Maryland in September due to surge in NFL betting

Maryland sports betting has hit a record high in September, with more than $532 million wagered during the month. The state generated over $9.3 million in tax revenue from sports betting in September, nearly triple the amount from the previous year. Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director John Martin mentioned that the enthusiasm from the Commanders’ fanbase has contributed to the increased interest in sports wagering. This September was the largest month ever recorded for sports wagering in Maryland, surpassing the previous top-performing month in January 2024. The state continues to benefit from the popularity of sports betting, with significant tax revenue generated from the booming industry.
