The holiday shopping season has officially kicked off as Thanksgiving comes to a close, with the National Retail Federation predicting more than 183 million people will be shopping from Black Friday through Cyber Monday. In-person shopping remains popular despite the rise of online shopping, with many Baltimoreans sharing their plans to hit the stores. AAA reminds shoppers to keep purchases out of sight in their trunks to prevent theft. Cyber Monday is also expected to see over 72 million shoppers, but AAA warns of scammers during the holiday season and advises consumers to purchase from major retailers or verified vendors using credit cards for added protection. Several Baltimore area malls and retailers will be open on Black Friday, with stores in these malls potentially opening earlier. Retailers such as Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, Macy’s, JCPenney, and Best Buy will also be open early to kick off the holiday shopping season.
