An inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Maryland is suspected of killing another prisoner inside his cell. The victim, Robert Warren, 28, was found dead on Monday, and a suspect, who is also an inmate at the facility, has been identified but not charged. The Maryland State Police are conducting a homicide investigation into the incident. Autopsy results have confirmed Warren’s death as a homicide. This comes after a recent incident where a prisoner reportedly stabbed two correctional officers at the same facility, resulting in serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect in that case did not sustain serious injuries and is being questioned by investigators. Once the investigation is complete, evidence will be presented to the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The North Branch Correctional Institution is a maximum-security facility in Allegany County where violent incidents have occurred in the past.
