A worker in Wellesley, Massachusetts was severely injured while hanging Christmas lights on a tree. The contractor received an electric shock while using a pole to string up the lights, causing life-threatening injuries. Wellesley police officer Tim Gover stated that the man would be lucky to survive the incident, as he took a significant hit. The victim, a 22-year-old man working for NZ Power Wash, collapsed after the shock and was found unconscious and not breathing. CPR was performed, and after several attempts with an automated external defibrillator, his heart started beating again. He was taken to the hospital, first to Newton Wellesley Hospital and then to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment. The witness declined to comment on the incident, but mentioned that the man is currently recovering in the hospital.
Authorities, including OSHA, are investigating the situation to determine what went wrong. The Wellesley Police, Fire, and Wellesley Municipal Light Plant departments have expressed their thoughts and prayers for the victim and his family during this unfortunate incident. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers involved in working with electricity and the importance of following safety protocols while on the job.
