Tuesday is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot in Maryland

Ruie Lavoie, the director of elections for Baltimore County, and her team are busy processing a higher volume of mail-in ballots than in previous election cycles. The deadline to request a ballot by mail in Maryland is approaching, with options for electronic ballot requests available until Nov. 1. The deadline to return the ballot is 8 p.m. on Election Day, with various delivery options including postmarking by Nov. 5.

For those who have already requested but not received their ballot, Lavoie recommends visiting an election office to void and reissue the ballot or obtaining a provisional ballot at the polling place. Provisional ballots will be counted after a review process on Nov. 13. The U.S. Postal Service is also implementing measures to expedite deliveries to the board of elections.

As the election nears, Maryland voters are encouraged to ensure they have a plan for casting their ballot, whether by mail or in person. Lavoie and her team are working diligently to process the influx of mail-in ballots and ensure that all votes are counted. For those still awaiting their ballot, there are solutions available to ensure their voice is heard in the upcoming election.
