Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and is receiving treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. His health issues come on the heels of emergency heart surgery, Covid-19 and pneumonia last year. Weinstein’s legal team has not offered further comment on his health. In addition to his health concerns, Weinstein is embroiled in a legal battle with Manhattan prosecutors over efforts to combine his original 2020 sexual crimes with new charges. While his New York conviction was overturned due to prejudicial rulings, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for rape in Los Angeles in 2022. His legal team is appealing this conviction.
