A group of e-cigarette users who used Juul Labs nicotine products are unexpectedly receiving deposits ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars, thanks to a $300 million class-action settlement between Juul and Altria, who owns a stake in Juul. The settlement was reached over claims that the companies misled consumers about the addictiveness and safety of their products, as well as marketing to minors. The settlements were approved this year, and claims for eligible Juul customers have begun to be verified, with the deadline for submission already passed. After deductions, eligible claimants were entitled to a total of approximately $202 million, with payouts based on proof of purchase.
