A brush fire in Oakland, California, known as the Keller Fire, started on Friday afternoon and burned two homes. The fire spread to 15 acres in the Oakland Hills area, threatening several other homes before being 50% contained by Saturday morning. Evacuation orders were issued for Campus Drive and Crystal Ridge Court, which later expanded to surrounding areas. Oakland’s Mayor urged residents to evacuate promptly for their safety. Fire Chief Damon Covington mentioned that crews were working hard to fully extinguish the blaze but still had a lot of work ahead. One resident, Delane Sims, shared her gratitude that her husband was able to escape their damaged home after a landscape fire caused a front window to explode. The situation remains challenging, with crews continuing efforts to fully contain the fire and protect nearby homes from further damage.
