China’s National Immigration Administration has reported that smugglers and cross-border criminal groups are deceiving people and causing serious threats to personal safety and economic losses through smuggling activities. The administration is working with countries like the United States to crack down on smuggling and other serious violations. The United States has increased deportation of Chinese nationals who have entered the country illegally, with nearly 56,000 Chinese migrants encountered at the border in the 2024 fiscal year through May. This is more than the number of Chinese migrants encountered in the entire previous fiscal year. The increase in Chinese migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border has been attributed to the difficulty of obtaining U.S. visas and the economic impact of China’s lockdowns due to Covid-19. The administration is working with other countries to combat smuggling and related crimes on the basis of mutual respect and consultation.
