A Navy EA-18G Growler aircraft crashed east of Mount Rainier in Washington state with two crew members on board. The aircraft, part of the F/A-18 family, was on a routine training flight when it went down. As of 7 p.m. on Oct. 15, the status of the crew members remains unknown. A search involving a Navy MH-60S helicopter from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is ongoing. The aircraft was from Electronic Attack Squadron 130, known as VAQ-130, based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and nicknamed the “Zappers.” The squadron is the oldest electronic warfare squadron in the Navy. More information will be released as it becomes available.
