The latest national NBC News poll shows that Americans are more eager to vote early this year compared to previous elections, with 5% having already cast their ballots and another 47% planning to vote early. Overall, 52% of voters are planning to vote early, while 44% plan to vote on Election Day. This represents a slight decrease from the 2020 election, when 59% planned to vote early by October. The partisan divide on early voting remains significant, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading among early and mail-in voters, while former President Donald Trump leads among those planning to vote on Election Day. The survey was conducted between Oct. 4-8 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Throughout the years, Trump and his Republican allies have criticized early voting, causing a clear divide in voting preferences between the two parties. Early voting has become more popular in recent years, with more Americans opting to vote before Election Day.
